What should a child bring to preschool

Most preschools ask parents to give their children a set of clothes for indoor activities and a different set for outdoor activities. These clothes are usually stored in the child’s locker in the locker room and parents continuously make sure that there are always some clean clothes. It is necessary that the child always has a clean set of spare clothes in preschool. Do not forget to mark or sign all of the child’s things that might get mixed up.

  • Suitable outdoor clothes: sports footwear, rain boots, sweatpants, short pants, leggings, tights, socks, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, jacket suitable for the current season, beanie, hat or cap, rain jacket, and in the winter: waterproof gloves and warm shoes.
  • Suitable indoor clothes: indoor shoes (that stay firmly on the feet, not slippers), sweatpants, short pants or skirt, tights or socks, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, spare underwear. Children who nap in preschool after lunch also need pajamas.

Some preschools might also require:

  • Gym clothes
  • Working clothes for crafting: apron or an old shirt that can get dirty (e.g. from paints).
