Special elementary schools are designed for children with disabilities or other special educational needs who need an individual approach and specialized support from teachers. This may include children with mental or physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, learning or behavioral disorders, and other specific difficulties. The aim of these schools is to provide students with support and education tailored to their needs, allowing them to achieve the highest possible degree of personal development and social integration.
Each special school or kindergarten’s website describes in detail what specific groups of students with special educational needs the institution is intended for. Websites also include information about the accessibility of the facilities to wheelchair users.
Enrollment in the first grade of special elementary school or kindergarten usually takes place in April. Open days are held in March.
To enroll, it is necessary to present a recommendation from a school counselling center, a pediatrician, and a specialist (e.g., a neurologist or psychiatrist).
