What should you arrange before your child starts primary school?

What is the first day like at a Czech school?
Your school will always provide important information about the first day, so check its website and your email. If you need to buy anything, such as school supplies, the school will let you know either in advance or on the first day.
What should you expect?
- There are usually no regular lessons on the first day. It is an introductory day, and there may be a parents’ meeting.
- There may be a short ceremonial opening of the new school year.
- Formal clothing is not necessary.
- You do not need to bring flowers or other gifts for teachers, although of course you may do so if you wish.
