Important general information to conclude

  • Studying at state high schools is free of charge, i.e., there is no tuition fee. However, various other fees are collected during studies, such as the contribution to the class fund, or the PTA. In addition, students also have to buy their own textbooks, workbooks as well as art, PE, and vocational training equipment.
  • During the school year, students may be asked to pay entrance fees for various events (e.g., theater performances, trips, excursions, ski courses, or foreign exchanges, etc.).
  • Periodic fees are charged for meals in the school canteen and accommodation in a dormitory for students whose permanent residence is far from the school.
  • Low-income families can ask the school to reduce or forgive certain fees. In a financial hardship, it is possible to contact various foundations, e.g., Patron dětí. Please contact your school and discuss whether they can help you deal with your situation.
  • High schools communicate with parents via e-mail or online applications (Bakaláři, Škola OnLine, Edukit, etc.). Feel free to ask teachers at school if there is anything you are not sure about. It’s also a good idea to check the school’s website regularly.
