3_1a HOW TO FILL IN THE ANSWER SHEET AT THE UNIFIED ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (JPZ)

During the written math and Czech language JPZ exam, answers must be written on the answer sheet. CERMAT tests use a specific method of filling in the answers, and it is where people are often prone to make mistakes. The following recommendations are intended as a tool to help you prepare in advance for this specific method. During the unified entrance exam, you will be given instructions on how to fill in the answer sheet. However, it might be helpful to get to know the system in advance. You must write your answers directly on the answer sheet that you will be given on the day and at the venue of the exam. You can ask for extra sheets of paper for your calculations or notes. Bringing your own extra sheets of paper is not allowed. During the exam, you are not allowed to ask for a new answer sheet. Therefore, it is useful to know how to fill it in properly. After the exam, each answer sheet is scanned by CERMAT and automatically assessed. That is why it is essential that the answers are marked correctly on the answer sheet.

!If you give a wrong answer or no answer at all to a particular task as a whole, you will not be awarded negative points. However, for open-ended tasks, giving a wrong partial answer or no partial answer at all is considered a mistake, and the number of mistakes will have an impact on the overall assessment of the task.
FILLING IN THE ANSWER SHEET

!Only answers written on the answer sheet will be assessed

You can only use a black or blue ballpoint pen to write your answers on the answer sheet (ideally, use a liner).
You can use a pencil to draw, but it is necessary to highlight everything using a ballpoint pen (including circles).
In open-ended tasks, it is best to use cursive writing to fill in the given field. It is important not to write your answers outside of the given field, as this would mean that they would not be assessed (the evaluator would not see them).
Answers that are NOT textual must be marked using an X mark in the check box  according to the instructions, i.e., the X mark must go diagonally from one corner to the other, the mark must not be smaller than the check box, other ways of marking the answer are not allowed (using a check mark or a dot, coloring in the box, etc.).
If you wish to change your answer, color in carefully the whole field you previously marked and use an X mark to mark the newly selected option. Think all corrections through, a field that has been entirely colored in can no longer be marked as the correct answer.
In some tasks, you are required to describe the method as well.

!We recommend writing your answers on the answer sheet as you go along. If you postpone copying the answers on the answer sheet, you will be under time pressure and possibly make mistakes!
