2_5 SCHOOL MEALS AND AFTERSCHOOL CLUB

SCHOOL CANTEEN
The school canteen only prepares meals (lunches) on school days.
Lunch is usually available from 11:30 am until 2:15 pm.
Each diner (legal guardian if it‘s a child) fills in an application form for school lunches, receives a copy of the school canteen rules and regulations, and buys a lunch card or chip. The children then order meals from those available in the menu the day before (at least one meal on the menu tends to be vegetarian or dietary).
Only registered diners are provided with a meal (soup, main course, dessert and a drink), which has to be paid in advance. Pupils insert their cards into a reading device that displays the lunch that was ordered. If your child loses their card or chip or if it is damaged, you need to inform the school canteen office and buy a new one.
The meals must be paid for during the previous month.
The price of school lunches is around 30 CZK per day.
A lunch can be cancelled for reasons of the pupil‘s absence, usually before 8:00 am in person, by e-mail, phone or through a web application. The cost of all duly cancelled lunches is deducted from the payment for the following month.
Lunches that were not properly cancelled or collected are not refunded.

AFTER-SCHOOL CLUB (ŠKOLNÍ DRUŽINA –ŠD)
The after-school club is an option for children to remain at school under the supervision of teachers before or after classes. There they can play, do their homework, go for regular walks. The main purpose of the after-school club is to offer interesting activities (see extracurricular activities), for relaxation as well as adult supervision. If parents want to use the services of the after-school club, they must fill in an application form. The youngest children have priority (grades 1-3).
If the parents (as legal guardians) are unable to pick up their child, they must provide the after-school club with written consent for the child to be picked up by some other person.
The after-school club usually costs 1500 CZK per half term.
The opening hours of the ŠD are usually from 6:30 to 7:45 am and from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm. Pupils move from their classroom to the club accompanied by the after-school teachers. If their classes end later, the class teacher who taught the last lesson will hand the children over to the after-school teacher.

!If a pupil repeatedly violates school regulations and disrupts the club‘s activities, they may be expelled at the school director’s discretion.

If you find yourself unable to pay for school meals or the after-school club, reach out to your children’s class teacher. Schools are often involved in various supportive projects.
